(filed under “I remember when…”) I remember when we first came up with the concept for AOL Hometown - Jeff, Nabi - you all were there…. Blair - you took it live and global....

Young, Rich, and Calling Their Own Shots
article on Inc.com. kinda makes me feel over the hill but still inspiring none-the-less. congrats Matt - but we already knew you were one of the coolest young entrepreneurs out there ;) also love the lobster guys from maine - whoohoo! i once tried to get my parents to give a real go at lobsterstand.com but it just wasn’t meant to be.

RunningRaw.com
As I was watching AmyA make another yummy green smoothie today on YouTube, I discovered a video by Tim VanOrden of RunningRaw.com (Tim has some really fun videos too). His website is inspiring - especially if you’re an athlete or ever considered switching to a raw diet.

recs recs recs
recommendations are not easy. online, it’s a very difficult problem to solve with some big companies investing big dollars. goodrec is another startup in this space bringing recommendations to your iphone, and attempting to make it easy and addictive to make the recommendations that will feed the system. suggestions are based on personal taste and friends’ recommendations across...

goplanit - launched!
first, congrats to goplanit for launching live today at the TC50! i’ve tried a few travel-related sites in the past year or so including dopplr and trippit. i like both of those sites and have used them off and on. typically my experience is that i want someone to combine more of their individual features (i don’t want to use multiple sites), be where i am (my feed reader, phone,...

goodguide.com - what's not to love?
another reason for me to get an iphone… i want on-the-go recommendations for good products. and when i say “good” i mean safe, healthy and green. i love this site and plan to use it on a regular basis. would really like to see if they could partner with opentrace - what another dimension that would add! check it out at goodguide.com.

causecast - giving back
powerful intro by jenny mccarthy for causecast.org. like akoha, they have a mission for good, trying to help people spread the word and raise money for important causes. again, the idea of pay it forward is here - and probably more powerful in causecast vs akoha. great site.

closet couture
i hate shopping. and i’ve actually reached a point where i’ve hired someone to shop for me - i outted myself last year here. so, i understand the appeal of the new vertical social network closet couture. the question is, would i put in the time to use it? it’s hard enough for me to find time to schedule an appointment with lauren to shop..so i don’t see how i’ll have...

birdpost
i laughed when i saw this in the program but after seeing it, i think it’s a fantastic service. last winter i was chatting with a biologist who was explaining the lack of a unified database across biologists in the field. this could actually be a really useful tool for amateurs and professionals - particularly if there are mobile tools that make it easy to use in the field.

akoha - pay it forward
the first thing you see on the akoha website is this: Akoha is the world’s first social reality game where you can earn points by playing real-world missions with your friends. Missions might include giving someone your favorite book, inviting a friend for drinks, or buying a friend some chocolate. i like the idea of a startup with a social mission for good and i’ve always been a fan of...

fotonauts -images for humanity
i love this product and not just because the demo was filled with amazing photography of nepal and tatoos. fotonauts offers very cool image sharing tools for creating albums and distributing them across your social networks taking the photo sharing process well beyond what flickr or picassa are offering today. fotonauts includes the ability to add in additional images from other people with...

swype is confident...
swype was another big crowd pleaser today. it had all of the judges (except om) out of their seats and playing with the device at the podium. swype basically creates text input technology for any screen and creates a faster and easier way to write. it works across phones, tables, game consoles, kiosks, televisions and more. i’d love to try it myself but it might seem odd if i jump up on...

VisualDNA Hotels - Your Trip →
just got a note from Youniverse that they mashed up their VisualDNA product with Hotels.com to match you with the perfect hotel - they call it the Hotels.com Visualizer. i love this concept because it can be so hard to choose a hotel while planning a trip. i just clicked on pics that appealed to me and told it i had no specific destination - love this recomendation in Bali. totally me.
